Stevie Wonder His real name is Steveland Morris, he was born in 1950. He was originally from a small city near Detroit, Michigan in the Unites States.
His family was poor, and life was hard for them. But Stevie was different from his brothers and sisters in one special way: he was blind. Young Stevie was like any other child his age. People could not believe he was blind. He could climb trees, move around the house normally. He could ride a bicycle and jump for one roof to another.
He could hear where things were. From their sounds, he could locate objects exactly. His blindness and his sensitive hearing were the cause of his interest in music. Music was a passion for him. He could play any instrument put into his hands, he could play the bongos, the drums, the harmonica and the piano perfectly by the age of eight, at age nine he had his first recording contract. Stevie enters his fifth decade as one of the most prolific artist in music history, with 35 albums released in U.S, 28 major publications of study, with sales exceeding 72 million copies.
He continued his journey of success in the next two decades, including writing his 1982 collaboration with Paul McCartney Ebony and Ivory. In 1984 the soundtrack for The Woman in Red produced the classic I just called to say I love you, this song was another #1 hit that gave him an Academy Award.
In 1989 he was putted into the rock and roll hall of fame next to the Rolling Stones. Coincidences of life, the Stones were the only band he chose to tour with, Superstition I 1972. In 1995 with its influence of the new hip hop, he helped to Coolio, to produced a new version of the song Pastime Paradise, they called it Gangsta´s Paradise and was the soundtrack of Dangerous Minds. The singer-songwriter has scored more than 30 Top Ten hits, 11 #1 singles of pop, has won 19 Grammys, and others Billboards awards. As critical have said about the great musical techniques of Stevie Wonder, it was simply the best, his mind is full of innovative fusion of rhythms and sensitive letters. Wonder forged his unique style and made it his own record label putting his signature on an epic quartet of albums that changed music forever
His contribution to global chance, social and political is impressive; he spearheaded the campaign to make the birthday of Martin Luther King national holiday as well as being a crucial force in the campaign of 1985, USA for Africa.
